Explore Limited Edition Tweeds

Hello a chàirdean,

I thought I would write with a little update. I appreciate all our subscribers and follower when you could be, say, reading the New Yorker instead.

I've created an online shop to sell some of our short lengths of tweed. They're good for waistcoats, skirts, shawls and the like.  I have about eighty short lengths in all and I've put up the first twelve. Most won’t be woven again.

Here is a link to the online shop -

I haven't been weaving much for the last couple of years. Life is full of change and at the moment I have small children and my parents are getting old. My father can no longer weave. I do miss working with them in the business.

And so for a while, I'll look at doing individual, small runs. I'll also work with other makers and craftspeople to create individual products.  I'll share the journey with you.

One from the archive

Here is a tweed woven by the founder of Breanish Tweed, the late Iain Sutherland, for Vivienne Westwood. We weave patterns blankets, five metre lengths of cloth showing four different patterns in the warp, which we can try different colours out on. Some designers like Vivienne Westwood and United Arrows have used them for clothes and products. Other customers we have woven estate pattern blankets for sometimes frame them.

They really are lovely and Iain was a master at them.

Thanks for reading.
